Back in 95, I was working on my car when it fell on me. Like an idiot, I had used only a jack and no jack stands. I was under the back of my little Tercel, my first car, replacing a rusted out brake line. The cheap scissor jack I was using bent. The car landed on my chest and knocked the wind out of me. I couldn't take a breath due to the weight on my chest. Just as I was about to black out, I heard some type of vehicle. I saw a man come up and actually lifted the back end of the car and ask if I could get myself out. I was able to roll out from under the car, gasping for air. When I refused to go to the hospital, the brawny man got me up, carried me into the house and laid me on the couch. He fixed me a cup of Earl Gray tea and chicken noodle soup. I ask his name and he said to just call him Pale Rider. I thought that was odd, but who questions a hero? Mr. Rider said that he had more business to take care of and told me to take care. I looked out the window and was shocked to see some type of small aircraft take off. On the bottom it read "Ridercraft 2000." About an hour later a local service center showed up and began to tow my car away. I ask what was going on and they said that they had been prepaid to pick up my car and repair it. Pale Rider saved my life and my job that day. I had just started a new job and it was mandatory to be at every training class. What a hero!

This is really nice to find. I have a story to tell about this great man too... About 10 years ago, Pale Rider saved my family. I am a farmer also and just when the time to plow arrived, both of my tractors failed to start. Me and my boys worked and worked on them, but couldn't get them started. I called several mechanics, but it was going to be several weeks before anyone could get to me. The season was not looking well for us. On Friday, this was two days after calling around for a mechanic, I woke up to the rumble of a diesel engine. I looked out the window and a large John Deere tractor was backing off of an oversized semi trailer. On the side of the truck it read "Pale Rider Farms Inc." I went out and a man, who was obviously a farmer based on his clothing, climbed down to greet me. He told me that he had heard of my misfortunes and offered to plow my bottom. I told him he was an angel in disguise. He fired up that big old tractor and I've never seen the dirt roll like it did that day. He plowed in 14 hours what normally took me several days. When finished, he ask if he could take a look at my tractors. I hated to see him do this after working all day, but he insisted. After just a few minutes, he told me that he believed someone had poured sugar in the tanks of my tractors. Along with my boys, we drained and cleaned the fuel systems and 3 hours later my tractors were both running. It was way up in the night at this point and when he got his tractor loaded, I ask him to stay the night. I ask him how much I owed him and he said we'd talk about it in the morning. I woke up the next morning to the smell of coffee and walked into the kitchen to find the best looking breakfast I'd seen since my momma passed away. (My wife wasn't much of a cook.) A note on the table said to enjoy breakfast and have a prosperous year. I looked out the window and Pale Rider's truck and tractor were gone. That man sure saved us that year. I could never forget what he did. Just wish I could repay him.

OMG. Middle of summer back in 1998, I got stuck in a phone booth in Hondo, TX. The stupid door wouldn't open back up. I tried busting the glass with the receiver, but it wasn't happening. It was so hot in there! There was a carnival or fair in town and people were passing by and just ignoring me. Finally a kind man in a button up work shirt, bluejeans, and mesh trucker like cap walked up with a pry bar and had me out of there in just a few minutes. He took me over to a hotdog stand and bought me a chili footlong with coleslaw and large coke. The only info I got from him was that he went by Pale Rider. Before disappearing into the crowd, he winked and flipped a silver dollar to me. That was amazing! I'll never forget Pale Rider.

January 1993 Kermit, WV I was traveling home from work on the strip mines when suddenly I noticed an object in the road. I cut to the left lane to avoid it, but there just wasn't time. I distinctly heard two loud pops as my right tires blew and I lost control, spinning into a snow bank that had been pushed up by the road crew. It was a very cold winter that year and lots of snow. I sat stunned before crawling out a back door to check out the damage. I could see the back tire was blown and knew the front was also. I was tired and freezing, out in the middle of a long and lonely back road. After climbing back in the car, I tried to start it for heat, but something didn't sound right and it didn't start. I was wearing a jacket and covered the best I could with my work coat. After about two hours, just as I felt I was about to get frostbite, I heard the sound of a vehicle. A man came to my window and handed me a blanket, hot coffee, and a bag containing cheeseburgers, fries, and apple pies. He told me to keep warm and eat while he took car of things. I was so numb at that point, that I didn't argue and offer to help. He pulled my car from the snow bank and got it safely off the road. He then opened the hood and did something. When he ask me to try starting the car, it fired right up. I now had heat. The man I now considered my hero then jacked up the right side of my car and removed the wheels. He took them back to his vehicle and 20 minutes later was putting them back on my car. I have no idea how he happened to have tires with him that fit my car, but he did. I have no idea how he removed and replaced the tires from the rims that quickly, but he did. By the time he finished, I was feeling much, much better. I offered him the $600 that I had in my wallet and he refused to take it. I ask for his name and he just said "Pale Rider." I thanked him and he reached in his jacked pocket and handed me a large pecan log, told me to be careful on my way home, and drove off into the night. My hero was strange but I'll never forget his unmatchable kindness. Thank you Pale Rider. Wherever you are.

Hey! I was saved by this man once too. So cool this thread was started. May 1981. I had just walked across the stage at graduation. Some of my buddies wanted to get drunk and I was game. I would do anything back then. We all piled in my buddy Jake's car and headed to the only liquor store in town where another buddy worked. He hooked us up with a load of alcohol and we headed to the lake. After hours of drinking and looking at dirty magizines, we stupidly got back in the car. Jake was driving way too fast and we were all hanging out the windows throwing bottles at signs. As we nears some rail road tracks, Jake got the idea that he could jump them and clear the bridge on the other side. We hit those tracks at about 90 mph and launched into the air. Unfortunately, we did not clear the bridge and even worse, we were way off to the right side. After landing on the bridge railing, we fell 50 feet into the river below. I was the only one who survived to this point and I was drowning. As I lost consciousness, I felt someone pulling me from the car. I'm not sure how long I was out, but when I awoke, I was in the hospital with my family standing around. I was told that a farmer carried me in and only gave the name Pale Rider. They pointed to a basket on the nightstand thst he had left for me. It contained different cheeses, crackers, meat sticks, and a lollipop. I'll never forget what he did for me that night. I hope someday to meet him, thank him, and shake his hand.

I was under heavy fire. Charlie had me pinned between a rock and a hard place. I began praying to God that he would take care of my family back at home as fear and hopelessness gripped my heart. As Charlie closed in on me, I had abandoned any hope of making it to tomorrow and soiled my britches when a bullet hit just a few inches from my head. I closed my eyes and pictured my wife and kids as I awaited the end. I began hearing strange noises, but kept my eyes closed. Slowly I began to realize that these noises were familiar....like sounds of a karate fight, straight from the movies. I opened my eyes and low and behold, Charlie was flying all through the air. A man, dressed as a farmer, but with a bandana tied around his head, was tearing into Charlie like Chuck Norris on a group of thugs. After the enemy had been disabled, this hero sat next to me, handed me a braunschweiger sandwich, a candy bar, a cold bottle of coke, a roll of toilet paper, and assured me that I would see my family once again. I ask him what his name was and he said I could call him "Pale Rider" or simply just "Farmer." He led me a short distance to his helicopter, dropped me off at camp, disappeared, and a month later I was back on American soil. I never met this hero again, but I know he's out there somewhere, saving another victim.
